as described, pulse does not launch with the launcher service at startup. the launcher service is set to auto-delayed for startup due to LDAP authentication requirements.

the launcher service does start up successfully and i am able to launch pulse via a monitor-based remote command while in super-user. also, the permissions work for the launcher without issue (it’s a user created on our AD for rendering purposes).

as a side note, the pulse section in the monitor doesn’t properly update when pulse is down; just reads as up for no reason.

I checked the Deadline 7 documentation, and we messed up. The LaunchPulseAtStartup=True line needs to be added to the global deadline.ini file, not the user’s deadline.ini file, which I’m guessing is what you did since the docs explicitly say that.

If you add LaunchPulseAtStartup=True to the global deadline.ini file, it should work. Here are the locations of that file based on the OS:

• Windows: %PROGRAMDATA%\Thinkbox\Deadline7\deadline.ini
• Linux: /var/lib/Thinkbox/Deadline7/deadline.ini
• OSX: /Users/Shared/Thinkbox/Deadline7/deadline.ini

We’ll make sure we get the docs fixed.

Regarding the Pulse shutdown problem, we think we can improve this for the next beta when the Launcher is running as a service.

cheers guys. in the mean time i setup the pulse exe to run as a service via anysrv (old win 2003 trick).

when the next beta comes around, i’ll update and change the system to properly run according to docs.
