Re: Aligning one vector to another

The idea is that one mesh is deforming and one is static. The artist wants to do all additional deformation on the static mesh since it is much easier to control, and be able to blend in these new deformations on the already deforming object. My idea was to use something that could be relative even ...

Aligning one vector to another

I'm trying to align the normal direction to another direction vector and am having some difficulty getting it to work in Genome. Here is where I'm at: - I get the acos of the Dot product between the two vectors to get the angle - I get the cross product and normalize it for the axis - Then I convert...

Accessing Objects Pivot

At work, when something like trees need to get scattered and have motion added, we make a layout of the trees using a proxy version and then instance point caches or alembics to these proxies inheriting the transforms also. In order to scatter though, we need to create points at the pivots of each o...

Rotating Field Magma?

I'm building a velocity field around an object that is rotated by 45 degrees so I thought I would just rotate the Field Magma object to optimize the field. Is this possible? I couldn't find any way to do it.

Re: Particle Selection From Viewport

The way we do it now is just store the initial position and then filter using geometry and using InVolume or NearestPoint. This just gets very annoying when filtering over a larger scene. I know Krakatoa was built to handle billions of particles, but we use it for lots of things that are no where ne...

Particle Selection From Viewport

In Thinking Particles, we have a node called PSelect, where we can manually select particles in the viewport and a list of ID's is created that can be manipulated. Since we often need to clean up PRT caches, it would be very cool to be able to draw a selection in the viewport, especially since curre...

Default Value for Mux

I had to recently reassign a bunch of face mat ID's and I thought Mux would be nice to use instead of creating a bunch of IsEqual conditions. The ID's are not in order from 1-20 so I needed to make 200 inputs in order to expose all the matID's I needed ( yes this is a messed up range but XMesh and T...

Re: Stoke MX and VDB's

I'm in Stoke v2.2.1 and VDB's from Fume do not read in Stoke. I've also tried loading them into a Stoke Field Loader and using that as a velocity source but still wasn't able to get any velocities from the VDB sequence. Was this issue addressed in a later version of Stoke than what I have here? Curr...

Alembic Support?

There are plugins to export PRT's out of Houdini, but there are times where all we get is an alembic point cloud file. It would be great if PRT Loaders could also load alembic caches, as it would save a lot of conversion time and smooth out working between packages. Is this a possibility?
