After Effects CS5.5

I couldn’t find any information about After Effects CS5.5 support for Deadline 5 or 5.1. AE CS5.5 projects cannot render in CS5 and there is no option to add CS5.5 render locations in the Plugin Configuration.

Is there currently or upcoming support for CS5.5? Thanks!

Hey there!

AE CS5.5 should work fine with Deadline; you could just specify the 5.5 executable under the “5.0” list if you’re exclusively running 5.5. If you’re wanting to submit to 5.0 and 5.5 separately, however, you’ll need to install a patched version of the AE plugin/submission script (which I’ve attached here).

If you’re wanting to install the patched submitter, first unzip the attached file to a temporary location (which we’ll refer to as TEMP), then follow these steps:

  1. Go to \your\repository\plugins\AfterEffects, and make a backup copy of everything in this folder.
  2. Copy the files from TEMP\Plugin to \your\repository\plugins\AfterEffects.
  3. Go to \your\repository\scripts\Submission\AfterEffectsSubmission, and make a backup copy of everything in this folder.
  4. Copy the files from TEMP\Submission to \your\repository\scripts\Submission\AfterEffectsSubmission.
  5. Open the plugin configuration from the Monitor and reconfigure the AfterEffects plugin as necessary.

Now, submitting a job from within CS5.5 will use the new CS5.5 render executable setting you’ll see in the plugin configuration. Also, the Monitor submission script will have CS5.5 listed as an option in the version drop down.

Great, works so far! We aren’t exclusively CS5.5 so I took the updated plugin route. We’ll play with it this week.
