alt frames

I have renders that are producing frames with alt at the end of them. So instead of overwriting the frames it makes a copy and renames it with alt on the end of it.

Why does deadline do this?

Our 3dsmax plugin will save an alt file when it can’t overwrite the original (because it’s locked by another process). We figured that was better then restarting the frame over and over.

Here’s an idea, can deadline automatically submit a “dependent cleanup job” that renames these files when it (the plugin) determines that it needed to make them? Then the first job finishes successfully and the clean up can take place.

FYI.
There is already a clean-up script in the right-click menu of the jobs scripts section, which will remove these alt frames if/whey they are no longer required.
The system is a great fail-safe when you get an odd network blip for example, saving you a lot of otherwise wasted rendering time, which to meet a deadline, may well not be available to you.
