Any news on the Mac OS version of deadline? thanks -chad

Beta testing should begin in a week or two. We’re currently working on the installers.

Cool!!

Do you have a list that we could subscribe to so we can get the news when the beta is available?

We would really like to test it.

Ryan,

Can you offer up any details? Can you submit from a mac to a pc farm or vice versa? Can you monitor both mac and pc blades/jobs? Are there any gotchas? I cant wait to try it out!

Thanks!

-chad

The initial release will include command line versions of the slave, pulse, launcher, and command applications. We will be looking at adding a monitoring application during the beta period (it may end up being a “monitor-lite” to start).

You will be able to submit from a PC to a mac and vice versa, although you will have to watch the paths for output files and references. At this point, we have successfully rendered with Maya, Blender, Nuke, and Lightwave on a Mac, and if all goes well, we should have this beta out in a week or two. We’ve been side tracked a bit working on the Deadline 3.0 maintenance release which we plan to release next week, so once that’s out, we can focus on the 3.1 beta.

Cheers,

I know we are looking forward to testing out After Effects rendering from a Mac. Will there be a gui for that?

We are planning to have a submission UI for After Effects, and we figured the same script we used for the Windows version should work fine. We just haven’t had a chance to test it yet.
