Arnold Standalone???

On your website I read that 4.1 supports Arnold Standalone. Is this the famous Arnold Renderer from 10 years ago? I thought it was dead. Has someone started development again? I did a web search and found “new” Arnold renders. Do you guys know anything? If you do are you aloud to say?

Just curious.

You must have missed a couple of years of its history

Arnold was licensed by Sony Pictures Imageworks from Marcos and has been used to render entirely both “Monster House” and “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs”.
On the VFX side, it was used on “Eagle Eye”, “G-Force”, “2012”, “Alice In Wonderland” and all upcoming movies by Sony since it is their in-house renderer now.

You can get an idea from Larry Gritz’s Keynote here:

(Larry is now with Sony, after nVidia killed Gelato, after Disney destroyed Entropy/ExLuna)

There were more Siggraph articles including an interview with Marcos, I will post it when I find it…

I did read that about Sony. But I guess my real questions is since you included it in your marketing for 4.1, does that mean a version of Arnold is on the way for the general public to purchase??

Thanks

SPI aren’t the only ones using Arnold.

I think Arnold support was added after I noticed it was capable of interfacing to Deadline? The submission script probably has never been used. yet?
