I was searching the DL5 settings and the forums for an option to send a WOL command on job submission.
Wasn’t there a feature once where the slave machines did start automatically as soon as a job was queued? The only thing I found was the time schedule.
I appreciate any help on this issue. Thanks in advance.
thanks for your fast response. I already assumed this setting to be the right one, but unfortunately it doesn’t work for me. Even after 15 minutes of a new submitted job no machine is online.
Machine Startup Mode is enabled, ten machines should be woken up per interval via WOL.
Nevermind the problem definitely exists on our end, so I’ll try to fix it. Is there a logfile where I can look up whether deadline sent a WOL command after the job submission?
edit: Ok, the Power Management Log tells me that Deadline woke up all slaves on saturday after a scheduled a job was submitted (39 secs after submission). But today there are no entries on any WOL command (I waited 15mins before I sent the command myself). Seems to be unstable here
In the Power Management tab for Pulse, it will show the status after every power management check. If Pulse isn’t waking up machines for a particular reason, this status log should provide an explanation. The next time you submit a job where you expect it to wake up machines, go to the Pulse UI and select Control → Perform Power Management Check. Then if it doesn’t wake up any machines, can you copy and paste the contents of the last Machine Startup check from the Power Management tab?
thanks for your hint about Pulse’s UI. Just tried it again and it worked perfectly without any errors. I’m still wondering why it didn’t work yesterday.
