Auxiliary Files

Howdy,

I’m not going to even pretend to know half of what I’m doing. But in the quest to understand more I have a question…

Auxiliary Files. When submitting jobs with 3dsmax, do you need to work on projects within a share so that the auxiliary files can be accessed after submitting the job for rendering? Or can they be submitted from a local (non shared) workstation hard-drive through the max/deadline plugin interface?

thanks in advance…

Hi David,

The recommended setup for Max is to have all of your external references (textures, maps, etc) on a share. This way, the references do not have to be submitted with the job, but all the slaves will have access to them. You can still work on your max scene locally, but just make sure to only use references from the share.

In the next version of Deadline though, we will be including a feature for max that will allow you to bundle up all of your external references and submit them with the job.

Hope this helps clear things up.

Cheers,

Ryan Russell

Yep, that makes sense. Unfortunately that would mean changing work flow and hardware purchases around here. Don’t suppose you can even hint at when that next version will be ready? Need beta testers?
