Hi all,
Trying to find the best way to update the slave machine applications via Deadline.
It sort of works if I submit a Command Script Job to deadline and choose the update exe with switches, but I can’t find a setting to get the slaves to run it once then ignore (eg, 30 slaves need an update, add 30 commands to execute, then they all chip in, but the slower ones might not start in time and a faster machine could run the command twice)
Is there a better way to do this?
Manually installing vray/forest/rpc updates on 30 slaves is no fun
Cheers
Jaime
Hi Jaime,
Having a job that only runs once on each slave has been something we’ve wanted to support for a while, but it’s something that just never seems to make it’s way into the road map. Rather than submitting it as a typical job, perhaps you could use the Remote Control feature for the slaves to execute the installer commands remotely:
thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … te_Control
The results window that pops up will show the results of each command, you can see which ones succeeded and failed. It’s still manual work, but it’s a lot less than going around to each machine.
Cheers,
Hi Ryan,
Thanks for that, seems to work perfectly.
Yay for automation!
