Ok I can’t figure out if this is a brazil problem or a Deadline problem or something inbetween. But it’s aproblem none the less.
In a few scenes when it renders. It renders reallly badly. Anything that hits full 100% saturation in any channel goes black and blue and teal and griddy. Not always griddy but sometimes griddy.
If I render locally no problem what so ever. If I render through backburner it no longer does it. But it did a few days ago. It always does it through deadline. Except when I ran locally on my slave. Then it stopped doing it on all machines. (With no other variables as far as I can tell changing).
It also only happens if I render as tiles. If I don’t render as tiles then it renders fine.
Any ideas why it would only be happening in deadline so that I can give a clearer reproduction to Splutterfish?

We only have the Free Rio version of Brazil at the moment, which unfortunately won’t let us render your scene. It’s interesting that this only happens when tile rendering. When rendering a tile, we’re just doing a region render, so maybe try performing region renders locally on your machine to see if you can reproduce the problem that way (try to setup the regions so that they render the same area that each tile job does).
Cheers,
Local tiles breaks on my machine now.
It didn’t before but thankfully now it does.
When the VFB comes up it looks perfect.
When it’s saved out it’s wonky.
Something between the VFB and the writeing of the file is fubar.
Is it possible to extract a .bat from a task to be able to forward to splutterfish?
Ok. I’ve come full circle and this problem is associated and is a symptom of a second problem.
1st. Everything we render out of Deadline is ungamma corrected (Linear 1.0 gamma). Even if we render JPGs. Regardless of the settings in the max file.
This was a glitch we were experiencing before. But were living with.
However… I got suspicious since this appears to be a color issue. And lo and behold it is.
If I disable gamma correction. It renders perfect.
So something in deadline between the VFB and the file writer is really screwed up. But only when rendering tiles or regions.
EDIT: I can enable gamma correction. But set all the spinners to 1.0 and everything works.
EDIT EDIT: I just need to set the “Input Bitmap” spinner to 1.0
Ah, thanks for the additional info. It is a known problem that the saved tile images don’t respect the gamma correction settings. We’ve posted a patch on another thread (near the bottom) that should fix the gamma correction problem, and hopefully resolve this issue for you:
