The Installer does not support 2011 yet, but since the plugins for 2010 are compatible with 2011, you can add Krakatoa to 2011 manually (I have tested at home and it works great).
You have to copy the line Krakatoa=c:.…\ from your plugin.ini for 2010 into the plugin.ini of 2011. Depending on whether you are using local account folders or the root folder of Max for the plugin.ini, and depending on your OS the file could be at different places. I hope you know where yours is… See also the Troubleshooting section of software.primefocusworld.com/sof … lation.php as it describes the same steps…
You have to do the same for the Helium=c:.…\ entry of the plugin.ini (Helium is used by MagmaFlow to edit particle data visually)
You have to copy the file TBB.DLL into the root of 3ds Max (This is the Intel library for multi-threading support). If you are on Vista or Windows 7, this might be tricky as the OS does not allow user access to the Program Files folders, but disabling UAC might help.
The next version of Krakatoa (1.6.0) which is currently in Beta will support Max 2011. If you decide to buy Krakatoa, we can give you access to it before it is released (it is awesome and will be much faster).
Hey Bobo, fyi my 2011 max install already contained a tbb.dll (i assume this is so because of the new Slate ME?) and when I replaced it with the Krakatoa version max would not start. I reverted to the max installed version and everything (including Krakatoa) appears to be working correctly, is there anything specific I could look for to check the functionality?
LOL, fair enough, I guess that is a good a check as any! the reason I asked…their is quite a disparity in file size of the 2011 max installed tbb.dll (238kb)and the Krakatoa supplied tbb.dll (282kb)
