hi – just learning how to use krakatoa and trying the tutorial on saving particles to disk.
I’ve followed the directions for doing this to the letter and gone over it about 5 times to see if I’ve missed a setting somewhere, but still when I hit the SAVE PARTICLES button, it just saves out the current frame of particles. I’ve double checked that I have it set to “Active Segment [0-100] Nth:1”. Can anyone think of why it would still only save the current frame?
Update:
OK so it’s a bug – following along the tutorial, you activate the Iterative (Full) mode. According to the tutorial when you set it to save rather than render, this gets grayed out and is no longer relevant, but indeed it is. I switch back to render scene particles, disable the Iterative mode, change to save particles, and now hit the SAVE PARTICLES button, and now the particle sequence is saved. Probably a good idea to revise the text of this tutorial.
Actually, we found this earlier and fixed it for 1.6.0.
It affects only Max 2009 and 2010 because they have their own internal Iterative mode which gets stuck when you switch between Rendering and Saving.
In the next version, the internal Iterative mode will NOT be set when in Save Particles mode.
