Hello. I’ve set up Deadline Repository and the RCS on Windows Server 2019. RCS launches in the background as a service along with Deadline Launcher. I also have a Deadline client set up on another machine. The client can’t connect to RCS. But if I login to the server and launch RCS, the client can then connect. deadlinercs.exe is allowed on Windows Firewall.
Any suggestions on why clients can’t connect to RCS if it’s running in the background?
Thanks for reaching out, did you check if RCS service is running when you said it is running in the background ? As long as you see “deadlinelauncherservice” is running, it should just be a matter of ensuring that the Launcher is set to start the RCS. Try adding “LaunchRemoteConnectionServerAtStartup=True” to the system level client-configuration [deadline.ini] file, once you add the flag to client configuration file you’ll have to restart the launcher service.
If it doesn’t work, share the logs from the past day located in the Application folder to ensure If the Launcher is starting RCS successfully.
