Cross platform Maya rendering

Deadline is not finding the image paths of texture files, across Win/Mac , it changes the path fine but then it can’t load textures (not in project folder)

Is there a way to do a pre-script which can read the .ma file and run a search and replace of paths?

better still is there a way to do this so if a node is mac it will replace all paths when a machine is assigned a task?

thanks

One of the requirements for easier cross platform rendering with Maya is to keep all assets in the project folder. If this requirement can’t be met, one idea that might work is to keep all non-project texture paths relative, and then choose to NOT submit the scene file with the job. Deadline will load the scene file from it’s original network location, and in theory, could resolve the relative paths to the textures regardless of the OS.

Thanks Ryan,

I thought as much, but this isn’t what the art team want to do as they’re cross-referencing items from a different project that are being updated continually.

I’ll guess they’ll have to stick with the windows machines for rendering unless the include these files
