In general… I like the color scheme in D6. (And I love the resizable progress bar in the Jobs panel. I would love it more if there was a way to make the Jobs panel use larger fonts so that everything would be easier to see from a distance including the progress bar, but this is probably not possible).
But one thing I would like to do is to customize the color of the selected job or customize the color of the progress bar. There is not enough contrast between a selected job (super saturated green) and the active progress bar (lighter green)… so I want want to choose a different color. When the job completes and the progress bar turns blue, then the contrast between green and blue is fine.
While we once had the ability to customize the color scheme in Deadline, we have since removed it in Deadline 6 as it was not a feature that was highly in demand. I do not know if there is any plans to bring it back, but I will pass this along to the devs to see what we can do.
We’ve logged a feature request to see if we can draw the progress bar differently when selected. For example, the selected job’s text always turns black, and maybe we can do something similar for the progress bar.
We’re not sure if or when we’ll be bringing back the ability to customize the colors in the Monitor. I’m sure it’s something we can look at in the future though.
We’re also evaluating a way to highlight the current user’s jobs like we did in Deadline 5. Maybe we just change the row background slightly, or maybe we can figure out another way. This is currently on the todo list.
Ok, cool. Sounds good. I liked the ego centric filter, but if you could assign a colour to users as well and be able turn it on and of that would be good. Or, sorry another idea I had a while ago, could jobs be foldered?! So lets say I want all my jobs for each project, software irrelevant, to be clustered together for quick location (restarting etc), you could put them into a folder (or something to split them from other jobs, a lin divider maybe) or again through the use of colour?
Of course I have no idea on the limitations of the code/backend, so I can only suggest options, Ill let you work out what can really be done!
In Deadline 6, you can use the advanced filter system to only show jobs for a specific project. You could then “pin” filters for each project so that you can easily switch between them. Would something like this help? thinkboxsoftware.com/deadlin … _Filtering
