D6: No net send capability anymore?

Do my eyes deceive me or is there no more net send capability in Deadline 6 anymore? :frowning:

The net send feature was removed from D6 (it didnā€™t make it through the UI overhaul). Can you use email for your notifications? We could consider re-adding it if people really want it back.

Well, thatā€™s 2 votes, so we will definitely consider this for 6.1. I think we need to change the name though, since Net Send was based on the old Windows feature. Any suggestions for names? :slight_smile:

I believe the ā€œofficialā€ platform agnostic name for something like that is a ā€œtoastā€ notification.

For now, weā€™re going to go with Popup Message. I like that the name is pretty self-explanatory. :slight_smile:

Please could we make sure there is a repository global setting via user security / user group security to allow/disallow ā€œPop-up Messagesā€ in Deadline?

Weā€™re just adding it as a notification option that each user can turn on or off for themselves. There currently arenā€™t any plans to make it a right-click menu option like it was in version 5.

Fair enough.
I just know that for us it was something that is potentially open to abuse in the studio. However, in the past, there were some very funny moments where it was abused to great effect in the studio!
