Deadline 10.0.23.4 Max Load Issues

We started getting a strange error since upgrading to the latest build of deadline. Has anyone else seen a similar issue where your task times out because 3ds Max fails to load?

Error: Timed out waiting for the 3dsmax scene file to load - likely caused by ADSK Comms Center, 3rd party plugin/script or bad configuration of 3ds Max. Alternatively, the scene file could be taking a very long time to load (lots of assets, slow network connection).

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Thanks,
Austin Reed

Hello!

Have you checked if you have Kill ADSK Comms Center Process set to True?

  • Deadline Monitor > Tools > Configure Plugins > 3dsmax > Kill ADSK Comms Center Process > Set to True.
  • There are also various timeouts here you can try increasing in the event of your 3ds max scene being complex and taking a long time to open.

If there is still an issue please attach the full job report.

Charles,

That’s what I ended up doing yesterday and still had issues. So I reran the Deadline Repository installer and ran the Deadline Client install on all of the render farm instead of having it auto update the farm. Doing test now and will let you know.

Charles,

Our five animations rendered error free last night! Not sure what went wrong during the upgrade to 10.0.23.4, but running the client install on all the machines seems to have cured it.

Charles,

I spoke too soon. We had to re-render 120 frames. Requed those frames and it completely crashed. What’s weird is that all 1000 frames on this job rendered just fine last night.ErrorLog.7z (9.5 KB)
