Deadline 10.1.16.9 Slave fails to start

We’ve recently downgraded to 10.1.16.9 from the latest release, in order to solve some issues we were having with Houdini 19 and deadline. This has solved those issues, but we now occasionally get the following error when the worker starts on windows 10:

The message doesn’t appear every time the worker starts. At the moment we resolve it by force closing the deadline launcher and deadline worker in task manager, and launching it again.

I tried reinstalling deadline worker from scratch, but this didn’t resolve the issue.

Our setup is deadline repo on network share, database on a linux machine, and all workers running windows 10.

Any thoughts on what the solution could be? Deadline monitor on the same machine does not have this issue at all. In addition, we only see this issue on some machines.

I think there’s some other posts on here about py2/3 issues, sounds like you’ll need to delete (or the safer option of renaming) the local user Thinkbox folder
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Thinkbox

What’s the issue with Houdini 19? There’s a very old thread requesting 19 support

worth reading through and adding your voice there, may get an update in time for 19.5 launch
