Hello everyone!
I just migrated to Ubuntu from Windows, I have installed the repository no problem, but the client will not work at all!
I can find all the icons in the dash home, but nothing happens when I click them, same if I try to run Deadline from Blender, I am a little baffled here!
I am new to Linux, but the setup seems pretty much the same as with Windows, unless I am mistaken?!
At this time I only run two nodes, but more are on the way, so I need to make this work.
I installed Mono 2.10.8.1 with Deadline 5.2.47700.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Gilles
This morning I checked all the permissions, and they we’re set to nouser and nogroup.
I changed all the permissions.
Now, say I start the monitor, it seems to be willing to start, but it does not!
I am at lost here, maybe Linux isn’t for me!
Again, any help would be appreciated!
Gilles
Did you install Mono from Ubuntu’s package manager? If so, do you remember which packages you installed? Deadline 5.2 and earlier require 3 packages:
libgdiplus
mono-core
mono-winforms
The libgdiplus and mono-winforms packages are required for the user interface, so if you don’t have them, that could explain why the applications don’t launch.
Cheers,
So, We meet again Mister Russell, I hope You are doing fine!
Version says mono-runtime 2.10.8.1-1ubuntu2.2 and yes I installed from the software center.
I was able to install libgdiplus add-on, but still not working, will investigate the other ones!
Again, thank You for your time, and no kisses this time, promise, showed my wife my last post, she laughed so hard!
Gilles
Solved the problem by running sudo apt-get install mono-complete in the terminal, which threw in pretty much everything but a pair of sucks according to the log, now it seems to be working!
Again, thanks for your time, no kisses, but what about a man hug?
Heheh, thanks again Mister Russell, You truly are THE MAN on this forum!
