Deadline 6 Stopped Working

I have had Deadline 6 working fine for a long, long time. Basically, I don’t touch the setup. The server that is where the licensing/repository lives, remains constant… I don’t really mess with it. (This server is PC20… a Windows2003 Server OS).

Another computer (PC31… Win7) is where I usually launch the Monitor and run a slave. Usually when first starting PC31, when the slave is looking for the Deadline Repo server, it will complain that it can’t find the server, etc. But then when PC20 fully boots, the slave on PC31 can find it and the warning goes away.

Today, it didn’t. I tried to launch the Monitor on PC31 and it couldn’t find the Repo on PC20. When I went to PC20 itself and tried to launch the Monitor, it can’t find the Repo. I turned off the firewall on PC20 and the PC20 Monitor still can’t find the Repo. I tried set the Repo path to the local version (such as D:/DeadlineRepository6) and it still can’t find it. I can connect via File Explorer from PC31 to PC20 (or any PC to PC20) without issue.

I have changed nothing.

Any idea why this would stop working?

Thanks for any ideas!

OK, after a couple more re-boots of PC20 the slaves are finally able to find and connect again to the Repo. So Deadline 6 is working once again.

Thanks anyway!

Hello Mike,

Just as a thought, we would normally check to make sure the mongod process on your PC20 is running at that point since that would be the only thing I can think of that could cause that error off the top.

Thanks for the ideas!

It has happened once more since the original post. I re-booted PC20 and all was working once again. Next time it happens I will try to check for the mongod process and see the status.

Thanks again.
