Deadline 8 3dsmax Server.exe Error

8.0.9, W7x64, Max2016 and 2017.

Error: 3dsmax startup: Error getting connection from 3dsmax: Monitored managed process “3dsmaxProcess” has exited or been terminated.

Seems to be a BB issue. We have uninstalled and reinstalled BB2017 but with no affect. It is only affecting two machines on the farm the rest are working.

Hmmm…not seen this one before. I would try re-installing the Deadline client software on this machine, make sure you reboot it and test to see if Max2017 works? Or is it both Max 2016 and 2017 that both continue to not work, after the re-install? Do you get any other error/log reports that say anything else different that might give us a lead here?

Happens on both 16 and 17. Have done what you recommended already with the uninstall/reinstall process to no avail. Also uninstalled and reinstalled BB with no affect either.

ok. Can you think or know of any differences about these 2 x particular machines? Are they running perhaps a different kind of anti-virus software? Real-time A/V scanning software? Different/3rd party software firewall? If nothing stands out, then I guess it would be best to organise a remote debug session with our support team (email/create support ticket here: support.thinkboxsoftware.com/) or I guess, consider wiping/re-imaging these 2 machines, especially, if all your other machines are just fine? Drastic, but it may be quicker on your time.

I wonder if it’s Windows Updates? Maybe try a quick “check for updates”, install and restart to see if that helps at all?

The actual error seems to indicate a socket exception, whilst we try to connect our Python DeadlinePlugin layer to 3dsMax. The odd thing, is I’ve never seen this error message in 15 years!
