I am having troubles with deadline rendering and dropbox asset path. When asset is on local drive and referenced via network path object renders fine. However once it is copied into dropbox and even if it is referenced via network path and not local one , textures are not loaded.
Any help appreciated
That’s unusual. I know there’s some propagation delay when you’re waiting for assets to copy over.
Was the Dropbox shared folder the same path on all machines? I have seen it where some have it mounted at say “C:\Dropbox” while other machines have it at “C:\Users[name]\Documents\Dropbox” which won’t work well as Deadline can only do so much while path mapping.
Can you give me some details on where the files were? Also, are you able to open the scene on one of the machines that failed and have the paths work properly?
As a general rule, Deadline asks the application under its control to open a scene at a given point and the actual loading of those assets is handled by the application itself. Path mapping helps, but there are varying levels of support for that.
Which application are you trying to render from via Deadline? Also, what version of Deadline are you using?
Hey Edwin
yes there is slight difference between dropbox paths on my two PCs - but the difference is in only one capital letter. Could it cause this?
Otherwise I have solved it by choosing “copy local external files to repository”
Thanks
The letter would only matter on Linux or macOS (if you’re using a case-sensitive file system).
