Hi,
I noticed that the “deadlinecommandbg.exe” flag; “SendEmail” allows a file attachment. I was thinking it would be nice to have some global repository settings under the email section, which sets whether log/requeue/errror reports are attached to the corresponding emails when they are sent out by Deadline, depending on what has been setup for each email section under the global repository settings. Potentially, I was thinking that users could also control ‘per-job’ notifications as to whether they wanted to not just be informed by email when a particular job errors or such like, but also ‘optionally’ receive an attachment (possibly zipped as the reports are ascii and will compress nicely) with any corresponding reports, perhaps also breaking down all the potential reports into a maximum of 3 report zipped attachments so that you can easily identify which type of report they are!
If you then combine this with any additional Deadline report enhancements in the future such as colour coding, line numbering and its all in XML format, then as an attachment you could “preview” the file attachment within an email client such as Microsoft Outlook and it would render nicely as its HTML/XML compliant? Ultimately, this could mean a user could see what is wrong with their job, without even having to startup the deadline monitor. Useful if you are also working remotely.
Just an idea
Thanks,
Mike
::BUMP:: !!
Hi Mike,
We can add this to the wish list, although I must admit that this probably won’t fall under our short term goals.
Cheers,
