We keep getting this error in the log at the end of job commands:
0: WARNING: 3ds max did not shut down, terminating process
0: WARNING: Process with id 3192 still active, terminating manually…
0: WARNING: Failed to terminate process with id 3192 because:
0: WARNING: Error code 5
0: WARNING: Access is denied.
0: WARNING: Process with id 2372 still active, terminating manually…
0: WARNING: Failed to terminate process with id 2372 because:

0: WARNING: 3dsmax and all of its child processes have been terminated successfully
I dont know if this is also the reason that the last rendered frame takes a very long time to complete (20secs before and then 30+ hours on last frame…??) I have sent the files to ryan and he has tested it with deadline, seems to run fine on their systems… just wondered if anyone had experienced this same problem as I suspect it could be a network issue, possibly user permissions in some way??

Hi Richard,
This is entirely normal operation. Often, Max likes to crash when it’s
shutdown, so Deadline makes sure it and all of its child processes have
exited before moving on. If Deadline didn’t do this, there’s the
potential of the crashed Max still running when the next job gets fired up.
You’ll notice that the log finishes off with “3dsmax and all of its
child processes have been terminated successfully”, to indicate that the
shutdown was successful.
Cheers,
- Ryan
