Is it possible to replace say the “jobs” directory in the deadline repository folder structure with a shortcut called “jobs” which actually points to a separate location for the housing of the jobs folder, such as a very fast SSD array?
Hi Mike,
That’s an interesting idea. We haven’t tried this ourselves, but it sounds like it might work. Another option could be to use dfs so that under the hood, some directories would be stored on different servers, and the jobs folder could be on a server with SSDs. Or you could just store the entire repository on SSDs (I believe our Vancouver office has this type of setup).

Hi Mike,
This is how I am planning to do this in our setup:
If your jobs folder is still busy, suspend your renders, stop your slaves and rename the jobs folder.
Then mount your formatted array as an empty folder (in this case the jobs folder).
Then transfer all your jobs into this empty folder and resume rendering.
Hope this makes sense.
You can also use (a couple of) iSCSI LUNs as your Deadline Storage. This should also make it easier
to grow your capacity as needed.
Cheers!
