hi guyz!!!
please please please i need your help.
i have 2 machines with deadline in it and is properly installed. The problem is i need them to split image into regions and sand them off to both machines and render it at the same time.
please I’ve been having this problem since i heard about deadline last year February.
please help
I’m moving this topic to the main Deadline support forum (this upload forum is for uploading custom Deadline tools like plugins or scripts).
Cheers,
Which software are you rendering with? Deadline has a tile rendering feature which can be used to split up a single image to render on different machines. It’s available for a handful of applications, such as 3dsmax, Maya, and Softimage.
Cheers,
thanks Ryan for you queeck respnd. i apreciate it.
im usung 3d max, AE, MAssive, Nuke, veu
holla!!!
Tile rendering is available for 3dsmax:

Hopefully this the only app that you want to split a frame with, because we can’t support it with the other apps (AE, Nuke, and Vue don’t have a region rendering option via the command line).
Cheers,
hi!!!
good morning!!! I’m in South Africa 09.30
its me again.
when i go smtd button in 3d max I’m geting this masage ‘’ time out getting repository root from deadline command’’
That error message usually happens when the Deadline client isn’t configured properly. There are some things we can do to debug the problem, but first, can you let us know which version of Deadline you are using?
Thanks!
Cool, thanks.
The first check we should do is to see if Deadline is in the PATH. The easiest way to do this is to open a command prompt, and without changing directories, run this command:
deadlinecommand.exe -getrepositoryroot
This is the same command that SMTD is using when it reports that error. Can you post the results of running that command?
Thanks!
hi!!! and thanks rrussell
this is what i did : deadlinecommand.exe -getrepositoryroot
this is what i get: \BA-064E9E\download\deadlinerepository
Thanks for testing that. That would imply that the client is configured properly. So that must mean that something is wrong with SMTD. Maybe try reinstalling the script, as explained here:
thinkboxsoftware.com/3ds-max … ript_Setup
It could be possible that you have an older *.mcr file on your workstation(s), so make sure to copy it over from the clientSetup folder as explained in the instructions above. If that still doesn’t help, then try restarting Max to see if that makes a difference.
Cheers,
i did try to restart max it dint work. and i delelet tthe script and copy it agailn still is giving me the same masage.
Strange. I should have asked this earlier, but when you run “deadlinecommand.exe -getrepositoryroot”, does it take a little while to print out your repository root? The script gives this command 10 seconds before displaying that error message, so if it takes longer than that when you run it from the command line, that would explain the problem.
Thanks!
it takes 9 to 10 seconds to show the directory
Okay, I think that’s the culprit. Now that we’ve figured out what the problem is, let’s see if we can fix it!
First, which version of Windows are you using?
Second, do you know which version of .NET 2.0 you have installed? Can you try upgrading to 2.0 SP2 to see if that fixes the problem?

Cheers,
I’m using win 7 and I’m not shore about NET i will check.
I’m knocking off now will see tomorrow.
BY 4 now.
Windows 7 ships with the .NET framework installed, which includes .NET 2.0. Definitely check to see if there are any .NET upgrades for your system though.
Cheers,
Hi …
I’m having the same problem. I tried all the steps. deadlinecommand -getrepositoryroot takes 15 seconds to execute.
I use the Windows 7 x64 with all updates. I also tried it on Windows Vista x64 and not worked. What else can I do?
Thanks
