Deadline Server Repository Integration with Directory Services

Hi,

Can the Deadline server/repository be integrated with Directory Services (such as Active Directory) etc? So that the Deadline access and permissions can be granted to these users? Instead of creating local deadline users?

Importing a User List?

IN case you’re wondering why I’m asking this: I need to explicitly deny a generic user login called “student” from accessing Deadline, yet I need any new user that logs in to be able to use Deadline. Because “student” is part of the “everyone” group I can’t deny it access without disabling “everyone”. Disabling “everyone” makes it so the new user has to get an admin to move them into the “allowed” group. I can get it to work by typing in the names beforehand and adding them to the allowed list…

Active Directory with Deadline is not supported yet, we have an internal ticket to track this request. I will +1 on that for you. Unfortunately we do not have an ETA on this.

Thanks, @anthonygelatka for the details and for pointing to the existing thread. Will follow it up and post should I have further questions. BTW, yes we are also exploring the deadlinecommand and it sure is a shorthand for performing specific operations quickly.

Thanks, @karpreet for confirming this, for more details/context the goal is to think of this integration so that the Deadline users/groups and access management will be aligned to the main source of IdM and IAM (Identity and Acess Management) and reduce the requirement of performing redundant user/groups and access management tasks to an extent possible. Although it is to be seen how would this extend/span out in case of multiple regions of cloud/remote render nodes connecting to a Deadline Server/Repository that would be integrated with on-prem Directory Services?
