Deadline /w Krakatoa seeding channels missing for some p.

I sent a FumeFX PRT loader job to the farm, after having successfully created one partition locally without any issues. Now, some computers did their jobs, others ran into errors resulting in the job getting cancelled. The error is:

ERR: Could not read/write file type:
ERR: get_fume_fx_particle_istream() - The file “X:\blah\blahblah\blah_42.fxd” did not have tghe requisite seeding channels (ie. Smoke and/or Fuel).

This feels strange, because:

  • partitioning worked well on a local machine.
  • some computers in the farm wrote their frames without having any issues.

…so I assume all seeding channels are fine.

I submitted “One Job only, Partitions as Tasks”, 20 Partitions.

Any idea or hint what might be causing this kind of behaviour?

My gut feeling is that the error message is misleading and the slave simply failed to access the FXD file due to network congestion/connection drop/something similar.
It would make no sense that one partition would see the channels and another one wouldn’t.
Does this error occur repeatedly in the same task (partition) on the same frame? In other words, is it reproducible or does it look like a glitch?
