I am testing (non production) out Deadline7 on a MacBook running OS X Yosemite and have encounter problem getting a Linux (laptop with Ubuntu 14.04) slave to mount the samba share housing the Deadline repository on the OS X Yosemite laptop.
Hi
We haven’t upgraded our servers to 10.10 yet, but all our slaves and workstations are on 10.10.2. We don’t have any Linux boxes so i don’t have any solution for you.
We’ve had problems with Osx workstations mounting additional instances of smb shares even though the share is already mounted. This is not cool as the added instances have different names than the original share name.
They are automatically named something like this: /Volumes/Share, /Volumes/Share-1, /Volumes/Share-2 etc But on the desktop and in the finder they are just called “Share”. This leads to all sorts of “Project not found” errors in Deadline as artists have no way of telling which share is the right one. Hurray Apple.
We’ve had to turn smb sharing of at the moment, copying files to PC’s via Dropbox. Not cool
smb3 is now default in Osx server 4. Not completely stable yet and have apparent speed problems. Hopefully this will be fixed in couple of versions, so we’re staying on Server v3 until then.
