Hello Ryan,
I am testing to launch a deadline job through the linux shell interface while connected to the machine through an ssh connection but when I launch the deadlinecommand application I’m getting the error :
Caught unhandled exception: An exception was thrown by the type initializer for System.Windows.Forms.XplatUI (System.TypeInitializationException)
and the job is never sent to the repository
It seems That deadlinecommand is checking for a window interface even though it doesn’t have any.
I tried to login on the machine and to launch deadlinecommand in a shell window in the interface and the job was sent correctly to the farm.
Is there a patch or maybe just a commandline arguments to force deadlinecommand to launch without verifying the Windows interface?
I’m using Deadline 3.1 SP1 and CentOS with mono 2.2
Thanks
This is a known issue that should be fixed in the upcoming 4.0 release. You may want to consider trying out the 4.0 beta: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2778

So there is no possible patch for the 3.1 SP1?
We’re not ready to switch to a newer version of deadline in the middle of a running project and we won’t be able to use a beta version in production environment.
And is there an ETA on the release version of deadline 4?
Thanks
Unfortunately, we won’t be patching 3.1 SP1. Deadline 4.0 will be released this month, and we’re already in the release candidate phase for the beta program. It’s very stable and we’re using it in production here. At the very least, you could test out Deadline 4.0 to ensure this is no longer a problem on your end, and then make the full upgrade when you finish your current project.
Cheers,
Sticking my kneck out too: 4.0 hasn’t really introduced any new problems. If it wasn’t for all the new features it could really be thought of as 3.5
