delete matte objects

how do you delete matte objects defined earlier in the selection set list?

I understand the create/update function but i can't seem to delete/reset any matte entries.....even reverting to factory defaults does not clear out the list.

There are multiple ways to do this.

First of all you should understand that what is listed in the Krakatoa GUI is a regular Max Named Selection Set (NSS). Thus, you can just open the Named Selection Set Editor (the icon to the left of the Selection Set field in the Main Toolbar of Max) and delete any objects from any NSS used by Krakatoa for Mattes by selecting in the TreeView and pressing the X button.

Also, if you want to disable ALL matte objects, simply move the Named Selection Sets from the right to the left list in the Krakatoa GUI, or uncheck the “>Enable Matte Objects”

Resetting to Factory defaults would have no effect on Named Selection Sets - Krakatoa simply lists any NSS found in the scene and lets you use ANY of them for Mattes, the features in the GUI are simply a faster way to manage them.

The way you are SUPPOSED to remove one or more objects from the default “KrakatoaMatteObjects” Named Selection Set is this:

*Select the “KrakatoaMatteObjects” NSS in the right list

*Press the “Select Highlighted” button - this will select all objects currently in the “KrakatoaMatteObjects” NSS.

*Using Alt+LMB clicks in the viewport or by hitting the H button and deselecting from the Select By Name dialog, reduce the scene selection to those objects you want to keep in the “KrakatoaMatteObjects” NSS.

*Hit the “Create/Update Matte Selection Set” button - this will recreate the “KrakatoaMatteObjects” NSS with only the currently selected objects, effectively removing any objects that used to be in it but are not selected anymore.

So in short, you can either keep all your Mattes in the “KrakatoaMatteObjects” selection set and use the Krakatoa GUI tools to update, enable and disable it, or employ Max’ own Named Selection Sets editing capabilities and use any number of arbitrary named selection sets.
