Draft licenses and super slow speed?

I’m just starting to discover Draft and was wondering about a few things

  • How many licenses are available for Draft if I have 11 DL licenses.
I noticed there were 5 nodes trying to encode a video, but in 5 hours time only 1 of those 5 made any progress (while it was similar content).
3 other enqueued jobs where errored due to lack of licenses.

  • how quick should it be in general to encode via LAN?
At this moment I’m using an altered slate-mpeg-resize template (see attached)
To resize 9000frames of 4k footage on 50% and encode it at 60% quality with the mpeg codec. It’s now running for 7 hours and is at 19% .

When I run a similar process directly via FFmpeg on a slave where it’ll read the files via the LAN and write the output to LAN… the whole thing takes 25 minutes?!!

I can’t imagine that adding a slate before and putting on a frame counter should make this kind of difference??

I do have the feeling that draft doesn’t really use my cpu allot. It’s often at 0% usage and haven’t seen it go over 10% (think the average is around 3% or something).

It both ran on equal machines (win 7x64 pro | i7-4770K @ 4GHz | 16GB RAM | 110GB SDD ~25GB free space )

Hi there,

I’m very sorry you are experiencing problems. Would it be possible for you to please open a ticket through our ticket system at support.thinkboxsoftware.com? Then it will be easier for us to help you with both licensing and Draft speed issue.

In addition, would it be possible for you to send us a sample frame or your footage throught the ticket system so we can do some testing? Please note that you may need to ZIP the file to get it through. Also, we would like to know the exact version of Draft you are using.

Kind regards,

Julie
