Email Notifications for Corrupt Jobs?

I know by their definition a corrupt job might make it difficult to see who the owner was, but I’m getting Comp artists coming back to me asking why there’s only 50 out of 300 frames rendered and I’ve had no notification that a job has failed.

Is the job that produced 50/300 frames showing up as corrupted in the Monitor, or as failed? They are different states, and you should be able to look at the error reports of the failed job to figure out what the problem might be. You can also configure Deadline to send notifications for failed jobs.

If the job is being marked as complete, and only 50/300 frames are actually rendered, it could be that the renderer is either failing silently, or reporting an error that Deadline isn’t aware it should watch for. In this case, you can view the logs for the completed tasks that produced no output to see if any errors are being printed out.

Feel free to post error and log reports for us to take a look at.

(Still on Deadline 4.1 at the moment)

I think we’re having server issues at the moment, we’ve been having multiple issues with the monitor losing connection to the repository (requiring restarting the monitor), similarily when submitting jobs from 3dsmax it sometimes loses connection and fails to submit…as well as jobs corrupting… I’ve been pestering our IT manager to try and work out what’s changed as we had months of Deadline working perfectly.

We’ve had jobs that were rendering fine on our farm, turn yellow and be listed as corrupted… sometimes it still keeps the job name, but sometimes it just lists corrupted, it will stay on the monitor for a few minutes before dissappearing at the next refresh, job does not get flagged as failed, and thus no email notifications get sent out… So only a few of the frames have rendered…

There is sometimes a report saying slave lost connection to the repository, will grab the next one of these and paste it here…

Yeah, that definitely sounds like server/network issues. If the deadline apps lose their connection to the repository while updating a file, that would explain the corrupted jobs. Hopefully you guys can track down the issue quickly! Just let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
