I have the email settings setup properly in Deadline. I am able to send a test and receive it without any issues but that is all I can do. Notifications are not sending via email when events are triggered such as job completion. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Those e-mails are being sent by the machines that complete the jobs (this includes jobs marked as completed in users’ Monitors). I’ve seen issues with Microsoft Exchange where the render nodes are not blessed to send e-mails to the SMTP server and so it fails.
The usual workaround is to use a mail proxy of some kind to forward those messages.
I created an SMTP proxy on the repository server which is whitelisted to send emails. Everything seems to be working perfectly now. Thanks for your help!
You’re welcome! Just for future generations, any advice you can give as to how you deployed and whitelisted? I’ve recommended some pretty simple proxies in the past, so it’s nice to compare notes.
We created an SMTP proxy in windows server (using the standard SMTP relay feature in Server 2016) and pointed all of the nodes to it instead of our actual relay server. At that point we whitelisted the IP address of the proxy server in Exchange and emails started to flow through.
