I just installed Deadline 6 and on the machine that the repository is on, everything is fine and I am able to launch the slave and run jobs. However, on my second machine I get this error when trying to connect to the repository:
Could Not Connect To Deadline Repository
An error occurred while trying to connect to the Database (10.0.0.5:27017). It is possible that the Mongo Database server is incorrectly configured, currently offline, or experiencing network issues.
Full error: Unable to connect to server 10.0.0.5:27017: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 10.0.0.5:27017.
Deadline Slave will try to connect again in 20 seconds…
5 second(s) until this message closes.
Set Repository Ignore Exit Slave
The permissions are properly set up, I can for an example create empty folders and delete temporary files in both the repository and the database from my second machine. Only thing I am wondering about is the port, but I tried disabling the firewalls on both machines and I still got that error. Could this be because I am using a bridged connection instead of the two computers going separately to the router?
I got rid of the bridged connection and now both computers are running directly to the router. I also tried putting the Repository and MongoDB on my other machine (disabled all firewalls just to check) and still no luck with connecting to the repository from the other machine. Any idea of what could be wrong?
I am writing this in case others see this thread and have same issues. Temporary fix for me was to disable all software firewalls in the Domain profile, Private profile and Public profile – in the previous post I had only disabled the Domain profile. I am using Window’s standard after lapsing on my Kaspersky subscription but will probably subscribe again. This isn’t a long term solution but at least my router’s firewall is still active. I asked support if the Mongo port 27017 needs to be opened anywhere in the firewall (when I tried I wasn’t having any success but maybe I was trying in the wrong place). I also tried putting in an exception for Mongod.exe only but that didn’t work. If I find the solution I will update this thread… I can’t be the only one with these issues? Maybe a lot of people haven’t migrated to Deadline 6 (this wasn’t an issue in Deadline 5)?
Yes, any firewall that does not have port 27017 open will cause that error. Thanks for the input on the profile issue, as I don’t know that we have many folks who are familiar with profiles.
Thanks, most sensible people probably aren’t using Windows 7’s standard firewall . It’s just for my home network of two machines and it’s really useful.
