Error getting connection from 3dsmax

Hello,

for some reason submitting my renders from 3dsmax2020 and 2022 will not work:

May anybody have an idea.

i have searched and done already:

  • fix python version in “SubmitMaxToDeadline_Functions”
  • IPv6 deactivation
  • reinstall drivers for graphics etc.

… submitting the basic testfile (a sphere using vray next to render) via SMTD in Max, using the option “Force Workstation Mode”, it is rendering fine! May someone understand?

It looks like Max is crashing on us, this message:

Error getting connection from 3dsmax: Monitored managed process “3dsmaxProcess” has exited or been terminated.

means that the 3dsMax process we started has exited without us telling it to. The problem is that since we’re running Max though a socket as a part of 3dsMax batch mode when it crashes we don’t get the last message back. So to troubleshoot if you submit your job with the 3dsCMD submitter instead we’ll run 3dsMax directly from a command line, which should keep all the failure messages.

Basically this is the beginning of the troubleshooting guide to figure out if this is an issue with the scene or how the context Deadline is running it within.

So give that a shot and we should get a better error back. This might be related to how workstation mode is working for you.

thank you for support. I rund “deadline” on my workstation which is also the “worker”.
Using no plugins and Scanline i figured, that when i try to render via 3dsmaxcmd.exe ist errors also:

For the working test, this is this being run on the 4183RT0 computer, and that’s from Max 2020 or 2022?

If it is the same computer and the same installation of Max, do you see this all your scenefiles or just this one? You mentioned Max 2022 in your first message, are you seeing different behaviour between the versions, or all all Max jobs no matter the Max version failing on the 4183RT0 computer?

i get this error for all kinds of files and in all versions of max. i have submitted via max 2020 and 2022 using deadlines “smtd” in max and using my own custom submitter scripts. submitted via deadlinecomand also. i have also tested turning of all firewalls. nothing changed. it seems i can only render inside max. i also looked into the “dmp” file which didnt really give me an answer. i work more as a designer than a td even though i have some td skills. locally i use deadline all the time. thx for your help.

I fixed it! Autodesk Support gave me the hint. Thx.

Finally we found the Bug. The Problem was not in any Thinkbox Software.
I did also update my Wacom Driver (Intuos Pro M) before the problem came up.
That was killing Max to Render via 3dsmaxcmd and via submission.

… also Wacom is on track with this issue. Since i use my Intuos Pro like a mouse, there is no way i use 3d-software without it. here is the old driver they gave me to fix this problem:
