It appears that there are several missing DLLs in the scene related to Mental Ray. If the option to ignore missing DLLs is set to False in the Job parameters (which is the default), then the scene will fail to load if any component is missing. This is to ensure you don’t get partially correct render results when a plugin is not installed. You must switch the option to True to ignore missing plugins.

To see if this is the actual issue, try this:

  • Double-click the job in the Monitor to open the Job Properties.
  • Select the “3dsmax Settings” section.
  • Switch the option “Ignore Missing DLL Files” to True.
  • Requeue the job and see if it renders.

If this solves the problem, you can avoid this in the future by switching this option in the actual submitter.

  • From the Deadline menu in 3ds Max, open the Submit Max To Deadline (SMTD) dialog.
  • Switch to the “Render” tab.
  • Expand the “3ds Max Startup” rollout.
  • Check the checkbox “Ignore Missing DLL Errors”.
    • This option is sticky between sessions by default, so any future new job submissions should remember the new state.
    • However, since the state of settings is being stored in the MAX scene files, loading a previously submitted scene might remember a previous value of False, and you will have to modify it to True before or after the submission.
    • It is possible to disable the loading of the scene value of this property to make the DLL option sticky for both new and old scenes, but that would go too deep into the features of SMTD - let me know if you want to learn more…

Thanks a lot for your immediate response, and also for solving my problem
