Explore output Error Vista & Win 7

Hello,
We’re having this issue where Vista Business and Windows 7 Pro 64bit cannot browse or view output.
When selecting the “View task output” or “Explore Job Output”, the path cannot be found. Even if it exist. The “Copy Job Output Path” and “Copy Task Render Path” are working. I can use it and then paste in a Windows Explorer address bar and the path is good.
We’re using Deadline 3.1.

Someone else ran into this problem. Here is the response I sent them:

That’s strange. Does the output location that is shown in the error message exactly match the one you get when you copy the path and paste it into Windows explorer? For example, are all the path separators facing the same way? Are there any extra trailing path separators? etc…

Also, are the permissions for the output location completely open? The reason I ask is that we’re using regular .NET functions to check if the output directory exists, and sometimes these functions return “false” when there are permission issues with the directory. It doesn’t sound like this is the case because you can explore the directory in explorer, but maybe there is something with how the permissions are configured?

This is strange - I managed to fix it by using another login. Need to do some more research on my end. We have permissions set up up on the share where all our work is, and where the render output is directed, but not the repository as such. Why one account works and the other which actually has more permission I dont know. But it appears to be my end. Im upgrading some boxes that had the WIndows7 RC on it. The actual release of Windows7 seems to be giving more trouble than the RC.

Can you try another login to see if it works? It very well might be permission related.

Hello Ryan,
I actually tried it from 2 different computers, one running Win 7 and one running Vista. Each computer logged in with a different user. For the Windows 7, I tried 2 different users, one being the user “render” which is used to login on all our renderfarm machines.
Our file server is a Solaris 10 (zfs) running Samba. The permission for most of the structure is 777 (full access to everyone). I will double check the path in the error message…
I tried to start the monitor using the “run as administrator” option but it didn’t help…
