Exposure support

We really need some exposure support in krak. Most of our renders get over-blown so we spend time saving an exr and scaling the brightness in a separate package. Can we at least get a global exposure setting?

Ben.

i agree, most of the time i spend setting the right density level to get the “brightness”

it would also be nice to have a “fill light” function, which brings back the invisible particles which were lost when trying to not “overblow” the most dense parts of the particles. You can use the lighting density to recover some lost particles, but then the entire look of the image is changed.

I don’t think you want to start messing with the lighting or compositing model at render time. I’d prefer a VFB exposure control, or to a lesser extent support for Exposure Control. That should take care of fixing 3ds max’s unclamped rendering display.

Your wish has been logged.
It is unlikely that anything will happen before 2.0 though.

Thanks for your input!

2.0 is sounding very mysterious… Uh ohs.

You will start beta testing that mysterious 2.0 sooner than you think…

I don’t know if I can handle it. I’ve grown to love 1.x so much…

We also give a lot of love to 1.x, go see the new 1.5.2 Beta 2 build…
You might like some of the new features which were originally scheduled for 2.0

well before I have tried working with “Gamma” in Max for Krakatoa and by enabling Gamma, it never gave me exposed/blown particles. It worked perfectly.
