Hi,

we are messing around with grouping jobs in the monitor and had an interesting idea.
we have implimented a grouping by our internal job number to group jobs for the same client work.

what we realized would be super cool is if there were a checkbox in the header of each column, when checked it would group all identical values for that column.
this would let artists group by the jobs they submitted, or by the job number to see what else is being submitted for that job code.
Or as a production manager i could sort by group.
We saw this as a potentially powerful way to keep jobs scheduled well and the entire team to get useful aggregated data about the render farm load so they can make better decisions.

what do you think? I am sure there are a million reasons why this is probably very difficult.

I would suggest using Jobs Tabs to sort by Job Number and then you can use batch grouping for other things.

When I originally suggested groups in the list, I asked for nested groups so you could use ExtraInfo information to be able to tree an entire project into one group, and then open up each scene and shot and then to render passes.

The tricky part here is how deeply would we dive into Qt to implement this. By nature we try to keep that stuff as vanilla as possible, but I’ll still bug the man in the know about it.
