Files being appended as 0000

I have users rendering Tiff files out of max, single frames and the file name is being appended with 0000 for all of them causing them to need to rename everything.
When rendered locally this doesnt happen, when the job goes through the max submission script and scheduled with deadline we get the extra digits.

any tips?
these things are usually me missing a check box somewhere.

thanks

Hi,
Check out the setting in SMTD: “Remove Filename Padding”
and scroll down to the “3ds Max Pathing Options” section.

Perfect!
one question.
If i am rendering an image sequence do I need to chance this setting so that the frame numbers are appended to the file name?

Correct. The docs say:

“Remove Filename Padding: If checked, the output filename will be (for example) “output.tga” instead of “output0000.tga”. This feature should only be used when rendering single frames. If you render a range of frames with this option checked, each frame will overwrite the previous existing frame.”

You could use the SMTD sanity check system to write your studio a ‘pre-flight’ check if they are submitting a single frame or an animation and warn about this setting being enabled or disabled.
See here for how to write a custom sanity check: thinkboxsoftware.com/3ds-max … r-customi/

This is great!

thanks again
