Hi All,
Had a query about how something might function in Deadline Monitor’s filter options.
I was wondering how I might filter the jobs window via User by the current user logged in. I’m trying to set up a studio wide default layout for artists and would like to have a jobs window (or windows) that filters by the current artist logged in to that computer and looking for their own renders. Similar I suppose to ego-centric job sorting but via the filter.
I was looking through the Deadline documentation and did not see anything that eluded to what I was looking for.
I’m not sure if there’s something similar to Windows Explorer’s means of detecting the current user in a file path like so:
But if Deadline Monitor has a similar function to the %username% function I would find it very useful from an organisational standpoint.
Thanks,
Potema
Yeah, we beat you to it here but unfortunately the user can’t turn it on or off themselves:
That’s nice. But I don’t think we have a use for such a feature in our current pipeline. I don’t want to disable users from seeing others’ jobs, I want all artists to know exactly what’s on the farm. I would just like to provide a means of filtering that information via multiple jobs tabs. Currently I filter jobs by episode name, or status, etc. and being able to filter via user would be helpful.
If such a feature doesn’t exist in Deadline, that’s perfectly fine.
I feel a bit silly, but there is absolutely a feature for this under the ‘filter’ option in the panel dropdown:
Look for “Me (username)”.
Ah, I forgot all about that filter option too.
However, I did a test, filtered by Me(username) and saved the layout to be opened by a different user, but when I opened the layout on the other user’s computer it filtered by my name and not theirs.
The filter seems to stick to the username and not the ‘Me’ flag.
Ah, it must be with how we’re storing that in the layout. I’ve opened an issue for it here.
In the mean time, I don’t think there is a way to allow this.
