Flipbook Suggestion

Maybe we can suggest to have a Flipbook option on the rightclick tab of a job?

Like the view image in the tasks.

And a possibility to choose a default command line flipbook application.

Not a good idea?

Hey Patrick,

It’s definitely a good idea, though there are a few things we’ll first need to solve before we can do this. The vast multitude of image formats that different renderers and 3D packages support with different options makes it hard to easily read any image which may be rendered using Deadline. We’ve got some plans for how to proceed on this, but currently this is lower priority than other things because there are other software tools which can do this fairly well.

Cheers,

Mark

Yes, sure. That’s why I was suggesting a command line setup like for the pictures we currently setup. That way we can choose a flipbook application of our choice.

I know it’s a bit more complexe for sequences and flipbook applications for options, paths, basename of files, start end step and for some padding. etc but it’s more simple than create a new flipbook application…

We have eyeonscripts for using Fusion as a viewer for a whole crapload of formats. We execute it as a right-click on one of the images in the sequence from Explorer. As it is now, you have to explore to the output directory as an extra step, but it works.

Rather than have a generic “view in flipbook” it would be better to let users customize their own right click menus to execute scripts and command line stuff. Then you can add things like “Export to Avid” or “Mark as Sucky”

Yep Chad. A custom right click menu on jobs and tasks can be better.
