I am trying to use the ‘Create PRT from FumeFX object’ but I get a ‘voxelflow.dll’ error. Might this error be resolved when upgrading to the latest version of Krakatoa?
The error you are seeing is because the version of FumeFX you are using is not supported in Krakatoa 1.6.1. We have just recently gotten the new SDK, so no version of Krakatoa currently supports it. Krakatoa 2.1 will be available near the end of May with support for FumeFX 3.
Thanks for the info Darcy.
Any word on the krakatoa 2.1 update that supports fumefx 3.
Yes, internally we have a build of Krakatoa 2.1 with support for FumeFX 3 and Thinking Particles 5, but we have to test it a bit and put it out for other people to test it.
Sorry it took a lot longer than expected, but we needed access to all related SDKs which had to also have Max 2013 support.
We just posted a Public Beta Build 2.1.2.47756 of Krakatoa MX here:
thinkboxsoftware.com/krakato … ilds-beta/
Note that it requires the latest FumeFX 3 build (3.0.2 or higher), it won’t work with FumeFX 3.0.1.
It still works with FumeFX 2.1 though.
I have updated to fumeFX 3.02 and krakatoa 2.1.2.47756 but I get the following error when trying to mesh the FumeFX Prt with frost “BuildMesh Failed to load fn ?vfMakeOutputName@@YA_NPEA_WPEB_WH@Z from VoxelFlow.dll because: The specified procedure could not be found.” Im assuming this is a frost error? Im currently running frost 1.2.0.46170. Any info would be appreciated
Thanks
Bruce
That’s an error from Krakatoa PRT FumeFX object when it fails to bind to the FumeFX 3.0 SDK. Can you double check the exact version numbers of Krakatoa & FumeFX? Can you do a test render with Krakatoa to verify the PRT FumeFX can generate particles for the Krakatoa renderer?
I seem to be getting the same error as well using FFX 3.02 and Krakatoa 2.1.2.47756.
double checked the version numbers. FumeFx 3.0.2 Krakatoa 2.1.2.47756 and Frost 1.2.0.46170. Get the same error when trying to render in Krakatoa. The fume sim was done in FumeFx version 3.0.1 do I need to re-sim in version 3.0.2?
No your 3.0.1 simulation will work fine, there must be some sort of problem with Krakatoa’s handling of FumeFX. Can you tell me your 3ds Max version, and whether you are using 64bit or 32bit? The VoxelFlow.dll is found in Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2013\plugins\AfterWorks\Common\VoxelFlow.dll you should post the “file version” number from right-click > Properties > Details tab.
Im currently using max 2012. the VoxelFlow.dll version is 2.0.0.0 I did test it wiht Max 2013 and it worked ok. but Im really not ready to move to 2013 yet if it all. by the way the VoxelFlow.dll for 2013 is also ver. 2.0.0.0 but has a modified date of 6/1/2012 where the 2012 version has a modified date of 6/4/2012. Hope this helps. Any ideas on how to fix this
Thanks
Bruce
sorry 64bit max 2012 that is.
Bruce
Thanks for the info. I’ve been testing with Max 2013 pretty much exclusively so I guess there’s a bug in 2012. I’ll get that looked at ASAP.
Any idea on a timeline for a Max 2012 fix.
Thanks
Bruce
Darcy, This seems to be affecting the 2010/11 PRT Fume as well
max2011 x64
Krakatoa 2.1.2.47757
This should be fixed in 2.1.3. You can grab it here: thinkboxsoftware.com/krakato … ilds-beta/
Fume fx 3.0 renders fine with max x64 2012 in this latest version (v213-47998). Tp 5.0 is not working for me.
