Fusion "Could not kill task" error (and Fusion 17 support)

First of all, thanks for the F16 support.

I’m currently using Deadline with F17 as well. Simply changing the paths from 16 to 17 does the trick, so maybe you want to add another field for Fusion 17 in the submitter script/plugin.

The only issue I’m facing is that Deadline can’t render using the render node when the Fusion Script Server for Fusion Standalone is running. It keeps printing these errors:

2021-04-27 16:45:18: 0: Sending kill command to process fuscript with id: 6100
2021-04-27 16:45:18: 0: Could not kill process fuscript because: Access is denied. (System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception)

I have tried to give Deadline all permissions I could, including disabling the firewall to test this, but it doesn’t work. I always have to manually kill that task and then it renders fine.

Is there anything I could try to fix this? I know this hasn’t been an issue in older versions of Deadline, I’m currently on 10.1.14.5
Maybe this is also connected to the fact that F17 isn’t supported yet (if that’s the case sorry!) but I can’t currently change versions and installing 16 and 17 at the same time causes issues…

Thank you all!

Can confirm that this happens in Fusion 16 as well

Hey Noah,

We had an issue if the FusionServer process was running on a node when we submitted Fusion jobs. I’m not sure if that the same issue you are having with the Fusion Script Server for Fusion Standalone, but we had a similar error. What we did was to go into task manager with admin access on all our nodes, navigate to services tab, scroll down to “FusionServer” > “Open Services” find FusionServer on the list and right click to change to stop.

If you look on this documentation page down towards the bottom Docs it describes a similar problem. The docs describe the errors but don’t really lay out the steps to solve it.

Hope this may help.

Thank you! I’ve set it to “Stopped” as default and it seems like I can render now without having to manually kill that task every time. I’ll try to send this as a bug report to BMD as well, when I find the time. No reason Fusion shouldn’t work with third-party render managers.
