Hanging machines

I have machines hanging on jobs left right and center right now and I am not sure if this is deadline issue or a network issue. When I log onto the machine that is hanging it seems to be running two copies of deadlinestartup and when I attempt to end processes then it terminates one of the processes and the other one is impossible to cancel unless I reboot the machine.

I noticed that when I try to UNC to the server which is the output of the job, that it doesn’t go to the location in explorer at all. However I can still ping the server and it has a reply.

I am running deadline 5.0.

Anyways if anyone has run into this before or seen this issues please let me know, I am tearing my hair out right now trying to solve this. Thanks.

What software are you rendering with (max, maya, etc)? Also, do you know if you are rendering with concurrent tasks > 1? That could explain two copies of the software running.

When the machine hangs like this, is the slave application still responsive? Just trying to determine if the slave itself has hung, or if it’s the rendering process. Maybe you could send us a log from the slave’s current session and we can see if anything stands out. You can find the log folder from the slave application by selecting Help → Explore Log Folder.

That seems messed up. If you are having general networking issues, and could explain the rendering issue you’re having too.

Cheers,
