have figuring out why monitor is hanging.

Monitor seems to hang a lot some days. It would be nice to figure out what exactly is hanging. So we can fix it. I’m guessing its IO requests from the repository. Any way to run a debug the repo connection heath?

Thanks,
Ben.

On the days it does hang, is there any noticeable change in the load on the network or the load on the machine itself? While heavy network traffic can affect the monitor’s performance, it shouldn’t be causing it to hang.

Also, do you use the Auto Refresh monitor feature (ie: you have the Monitor set to automatically refresh every 30 seconds, as opposed to the default 4 hours, which essentially is like disabling it)? The Auto Refresh has been known to cause problems in the past, so if you are using this feature, maybe try setting it back to the default 4 hours for a week or so to see if the problem persists.

Finally, when the monitor has hung, is it eating up CPU cycles or using up more RAM, or does it appear to be sitting idle in the Task Manager?

Thanks,

The hangs are basically after every click in the job window. Maybe other places as well. Servers have been flakey but its hard to tell if thats the blame or not.

We had this happening to us on occasion as well. Generally when a large load was placed on the repository.
Have yuou tried running PULSE on the same server as the repository as it helps to alleviate the load on the monitor, especially when several people/stations are refreshing simultaneously…
