How to change default Log and Lib locations on Linux

Hello,

We at Jaguar Land Rover Ltd are trying to create a thin client install of Thinkbox Deadline software. We are doing so as we have hundreds of slaves and can’t install on them one after another. We have been successful in doing so. But we get below error when launching deadline slave:

mbutle39@nodeu004:/caeapps/code_deadline_9_0_12/bin> ./deadlineslave -nogui

Exception on Startup: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path “/var/log/Thinkbox” is denied.

The /var/log folder is not open for writing to all users. Is there a way to specify an adhoc location for logs (default : /var/log/Thinkbox) and for lib (default: /var/lib/Thinkbox) ?

Thanks
Sujay

If you want to deploy a true 100% centrally managed deployment, then see here:
https://docs.thinkboxsoftware.com/products/deadline/10.0/1_User%20Manual/manual/deploy-client-centrally-managed.html

Recommend you take the opportunity to upgrade to Deadline 10 as well.

If you still want a semi-thin deployment, then either ENV VARs or _config files can be used to redirect localised files such as var/log. See bottom of docs link above for more info.
