Hi all, I wanted some clarification for how the “Idle Detection - Only Start Worker If These Processes Are Not Running” in the Worker Properties feature works. I have a PC that I want to never start the worker if Davinci Resolve is currently running. I wasn’t sure how to exactly add the process so I found it in the task manager, opened it’s properties and copied the name into the box. The name is “resolve.exe”
Is this the correct way to prevent the worker from starting if Resolve is running? So far the worker refuses to start on idle detection anymore regardless if Resolve is or is not running. The only way to launch the worker on this PC is to manually tell it to run.
How can I fix this? Thank you!!!
Is it possible that resolve is running? either as a background process or crashed process? Are there other users running it or does it have a ‘service’ running?
I just did a thorough investigation into Resolve if it is running as a crashed or background process. When I close down Resolve, it kills the .exe and I can’t find anything attached to it. I also did not find it running any services and it is not possible that another user could be running it. I decided to add the “Resolve.exe” to a different worker that does not have Resolve installed on it and I had the same problem - it refused to start on idle. Here are some screenshots of the process running and my schedule settings
if you type in some random name does it still prevent startup? eg. zzyxx1234abc.exe?
If you add Resolve.exe to the ‘Worker Scheduling’ instead of a specific Worker does that work?
Ok I got it figured out. Entering any dummyabc123.exe in the override commands would prevent the launcher from launcher. In fact, just enabling the idle override would prevent the worker from launching. This screenshot caused any worker to not launch on idle detection
Adding Resolve.exe to the master schedule is working just fine now. Worker will start after idle only if Resolve.exe is not running. See screenshot
Thank you for your help in troubleshooting this!!!
