Hi Timor,
I justed the Online Help link in the app, and it worked fine here. We were having some recent DNS issues with our domain, and that may have contributed to you not being able to view the help page. The mobile app documentation can also be found in our online manual:
software.primefocusworld.com/sof … ntents.php
Here is the direct link:

Hi Ryan,
thanks, i tested again and the help works now.
Still, we have troubles getting this work.
The main question is: Is Pulse functioning as a webserver or do we need to set one up ourselves?
If we try to connect through :8080 we don´t see anything…
Any tips are appreciated, so far our admin couldn´t figure out to get it running
Thanks,
Timor
Hi Timor,
First, let’s confirm that the Pulse web service is running properly. The first thing to do is to enable Pulse Verbose Logging in the Repository Options (in the Logging section). Also make sure that your Pulse Web Service settings are configured. Specifically, make sure the Connection Limit is greater than 0, otherwise the feature is disabled.
Then restart Pulse and watch for the first few lines to appear in the log window. This will indicate if the web service is working or not. For example, if it’s working, you should see this:
Web Service: Web Service listening for connections on port 8080…
Let us know what you see and we can go from there.
Cheers,
Thanks, it works now…The webservice is running now.
Unfortunately it crashes as soon as you click on a job (on ipad, ipod and iphones), is this something you encountered too?
You should consider a step-by-step explanation (for dummies) for getting this to work, as it was quite a mission to get it to run properly…
Thanks,
Timor
Hi Timor,
We could expand our mobile docs to go into more detail. What areas in particular did you have trouble with?
We can’t reproduce the crash here. Are you guys running Deadline 4.1 or a previous version?
Cheers,
Yay, I have it working! Here are some thoughts, think what you will of them…
First, the most confusing part for me was this tooltip when you just hover over Web Service Connection Limit in the Repository options. “The amount of simultaneous connections the Web Service can handle, set to 0 to disable.” Typically when I am setting limits, when you say disable I think you are saying “disable the ability to limit”… in other words, no limit! I did not read it as disabling the web service. When you say “0 to disable”, you meant zero users can connect. I never would have guessed that!
As far as how to improve the docs, for me when I read “User ID: This is your User ID for http authorization.” (from software.primefocusworld.com/sof … iphone.php under Server Settings) I ask myself “what user ID? When did I set that?” I think it would be helpful to include references or links to where to find that. The passwords were also confusing, it seems like I only set one password… but you have:
Password: This is your password for http authorization.
and
User password: This is the Web Service Password for the user.
If those are the same thing why do they have different descriptions? If these are different, where were they initially set or how can I go and find or change them.
I don’t need answers to those questions. But I’m just showing you how I look at your documentation. If I was full time tech support at my company, I’d have read the doc front to back. But as an artist that plays tech when he needs to… I don’t always have the ability to read all preceding topics to get to the bottom of a problem so linking would be nice.
Also, this may exist and I have yet to find it. But a keyword search for your documentation would be great!!!
I hope this was constructive, this is by no means a complaint! I think the biggest help is usually the forms where, once again, I was able to quickly find my answer.
Thanks for the iphone app. Now I can sit in the theater and quickly check my renders!!!
Glad to hear you have it working, and thanks for the valuable feedback on the documentation. We have noted all of your points, and will take them all under consideration when updating our documentation for the upcoming 4.1 maintenance release.
Cheers,
